Indie Pop, Soul-Folk Songstress
Take one part bohemian and one part brass knuckles, stir in some wanderlust, simmer at 100° in Texas weather for 20 something years. Remove from heat and let chill. Serve Bekah Kelso up with a folk-hop twist, relax and enjoy.

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope your 2014 is off to a killer start!
Me and the fellas had a fantastic 2013 thanks to the tremendous outpouring of shiny goodness from lots of local media including the San Antonio Current, who kindly named me "Solo Artist of the Year" and gave "Album of the Year" to Within The Shifting Shade. We also got love from the San Antonio Express News and S.A. Scene Magazine. Now 2014 is off to a great start with a great interview in San Antonio Magazine! (I know! Who knew SA had so many killer publications in circulation?!)
I am taking these cold days of early January to focus and look ahead. What do I wanna do next? One of the answers is songwriting. Boat loads of it. I am currently enjoying membership in a song-a-week songwriters group which has me intensely disciplined about my writing sessions. I have written 4 new songs so far, spanning Americana to quirky pop, to hip hop and dance beats. I love being free to approach any style I want, totally devoid of worry that it doesn't fit my genre. It's for the birds, man!
I'm also booking more local shows which you can find here. There's one KILLER show coming up that you should definitely check out. On January 24th, Bekah Kelso Band is opening for the bay area Thao & The Get Down Stay Down who comPLETELY rocks. Check out their video for "We the Common (For Valerie Bolden)"
"Kelso, . . . Damian Rodriguez and a cast of complementary musicians, some from the jazz scene, some from the rock world, have crafted a beautiful album that's part alt-folk, part funky pop, part folkie soul and all captivating" - Jim Beal, San Antonio Express News
Now it's your turn!
